I've switched to Firefox 3.5.3 on Ubuntu from Firefox 3.1 and I was surprised how fast and optimized the new Firefox is. Ik ben overgestapt naar Firefox 3.5.3 op Ubuntu van Firefox 3.1 en ik was verrast hoe snel en geoptimaliseerd de nieuwe Firefox is. When browsing with several (more than 10) tabs at once with Firefox 3.1, RAM usage went up to 1.3 GB!! Tijdens het surfen met meerdere (meer dan 10) tabs tegelijk met Firefox 3.1, RAM-gebruik steeg tot 1,3 GB! That is why I had to upgrade my PC with 2 more GB of RAM. Daarom moest ik mijn PC upgraden met nog 2 GB RAM-geheugen.
Now I can open as many tabs I want with Firefox 3.5.3 (though I never tried to do it with more than 20 tabs at once), but the RAM usage will never exceed 400MB. Nu kan ik veel tabbladen openen als ik wil met Firefox 3.5.3 (hoewel ik nooit geprobeerd om het te doen met meer dan 20 tabs tegelijk), maar het RAM gebruik zal nooit hoger zijn dan 400 MB. That's a whopping decrease in RAM usage with 70%. Dat is een daling van maar liefst in het RAM-gebruik met 70%.
Kudos to Mozilla developers who keep improving the best browser ever existing. Kudos to Mozilla ontwikkelaars die houden het verbeteren van de beste browser ooit bestaande.
PS to Ubuntu people: Firefox 3.5.3 is still not officially available in the Ubuntu distro. PS naar Ubuntu mensen: Firefox 3.5.3 is nog steeds niet officieel beschikbaar in de Ubuntu distro. Firefox 3.5 will be officially supported in the 9.10 version Karmic Koala. Firefox 3.5 zal officieel worden ondersteund in de 9.10 versie Karmische Koala. Until then you can download and use Firefox 3.5 from the synaptic package manager, it's called Shiretoko. Tot dan kunt u downloaden en gebruiken Firefox 3.5 uit de Synaptic Package Manager, het heet Shiretoko.
